This is a sign that is part of a Wherigo (GC5GMER) I published in Tucson, Arizona. It was published in 2014, my very first Wherigo of (currently) 30 I have published. There are about eight beautiful historic neon signs within a half-mile area, so most people use it as an excuse to take a stroll.

Vintage Neon Signs...and Why We Should Save Them

The Flamingo

The Flamingo Hotel, 1300 N. Stone Ave., Tucson, AZ

The historic Flamingo Hotel opened on January 24, 1954. The neon sign was added in 1963. The sign’s space-age design was influenced by the cultural changes beginning with the recent launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, Sputnik I, in 1957.
